Notre Dame recruiting target opts for an SEC program, but it was a good problem to have for the Fighting Irish
Notre Dame’s 2027 defensive line board tightened after a key target chose an SEC school. The Fighting Irish had commitments already from 5-star EDGE Abraham Sesay, elite defensive tackle David Folorunsho, top-100 defensive end Aidan O’Neil, and 4-star pass rusher Jackson Vaughn. One name still being evaluated was Tyler Alexander, a defensive tackle from Wellington (Fla.) Palm Beach Central, who visited South Bend on an official visit two weekends before. The article says Alexander came off Notre Dame’s board on Tuesday, instead committing to Texas over Notre Dame, Georgia, and Colorado. It frames the decision as manageable because Notre Dame is building toward a class that also includes prospects Brayden Parks and Segun Alexander. Alexander’s recruitment is supported by his 2025 production in 11 games: 46 tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and 21 quarterback hurries, according to the piece.
