Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith Makes EA College Football 27 History at Launch
EA Sports College Football 27 has made Jeremiah Smith history at launch by giving the Ohio State junior WR a 99 overall rating from day one. On Wednesday, EA announced that the “first ever 99 OVR at launch” in the revived franchise belongs to Smith, marking no other player entering the game with a 99 so early. In comparison, Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza reached 99 during College Football 26 after winning the national championship and the Heisman, then becoming the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft. Smith’s two seasons at Ohio State include 163 catches for 2,558 yards and 29 touchdowns, plus unanimous All-American honors as a sophomore and two Big Ten Receiver of the Year awards. EA’s ratings also place Ohio State among the top teams in the game, with its offense rated 92 and defense 88.
