Oklahoma Sooners make new recruiting department hire
The Oklahoma Sooners added to their recruiting and scouting staff with a new hire starting in July, appointing Manaia Brown as scouting coordinator in the recruiting department. Brown previously served as assistant director of recruiting at Fresno State. The article states that he is a former defensive tackle who played at Nebraska and BYU, and that he spent one year as defensive line coach at Northeastern State after time at Garden City Community College, which is also the alma mater of head coach Brent Venables. It also cites more than ten years of coordinator experience. His hiring is intended to help replace scouting coordinator T.J. Lynn, who left for a graduate assistant role at UCLA coaching cornerbacks. The Sooners begin the 2026 season at home on Friday, September 4 against the UTEP Miners at 7:00 p.m. CT.
