Palm Beach State College rejected Oak View Group’s plan for a 10,000-seat arena on its Lake Worth Beach campus, choosing instead a smaller 6,000-to-8,000-seat professional soccer stadium proposal. Denver-based OVG offered 600 club seats, 20 private seats and 10 luxury boxes, with nearly 100 concerts a year, and said it was also in talks to bring minor league hockey, including an ice rink. The project was estimated at $360 million. PBSC will now move forward with a bid from Palm Beach Sports Management, owner of the United Soccer League’s Palm Beach County club, estimated at $50 million to $60 million, privately funded and without luxury seats. The OVG plan was dismissed because it didn’t pay PBSC’s required $25,000 filing fee.
