Police Probe Footage of Danny Tommo Slashing Migrant Dinghy in English Channel

Police are investigating footage circulating online that appears to show anti-migration activist Daniel Thomas, known as “Danny Tommo,” slashing an inflatable migrant dinghy in the English Channel on 22 September. Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary says officers are aware of the video and are making enquiries, but has not identified Thomas as a suspect or disclosed any charge or arrest. The report says Thomas had been livestreaming from a speedboat while following a migrant vessel that undertook an unusually long journey from Normandy. After people were transferred to rescue vessels, dozens of discarded lifejackets remained. Footage reportedly shows a rescue worker on the dinghy as Thomas uses a blade to puncture it, despite no police indication that migrants were put at risk.
