Raptors put Leonard trade on hold until NBA's probe into Clippers concludes
Raptors put Leonard trade on hold until NBA's probe into Clippers concludes reports that the Toronto Raptors halted their Kawhi Leonard acquisition from the Clippers while an NBA investigation remains ongoing. Toronto said Thursday it would assume the risk of any outcome affecting Leonard and therefore will wait until the league office finishes its review. The trade framework previously sent Leonard to Toronto for forward Brandon Ingram, shooting guard Gradey Dick, two first-round picks, a pick swap and two second-round picks. Leonard spent the past seven seasons with the Clippers, after helping Toronto win the 2019 NBA title. The inquiry began in September after a “Pablo Torre Finds Out” podcast episode described a Leonard contract with Aspiration, involving endorsements. The investigation is being handled by Wachtell Lipton, with no set timeline, though Commissioner Adam Silver said it must be concluded in a timely manner.
