Record-breaking crowds for Window 4 in FIBA WC Qualifiers
FIBA reported record attendance for Window 4 of the FIBA Basketball World Cup Qualifiers. Across five days of Second Round action in Europe, Asia, Africa and the Americas, 342,700 spectators attended overall, surpassing the prior benchmark set during Window 3 of the 2027 qualifiers. In Greece on Monday, 17,677 fans filled the Telekom Center Athens as the hosts narrowly beat Spain 108-106 in overtime. France drew 15,831 at Accor Arena in Paris for a win over Slovenia, while Sweden’s Avicii Arena hosted a lively 14,750 audience. Germany registered 15,609 at Lanxess Arena against the Netherlands on August 27. In Asia at Mall of Asia Arena, 18,308 fans watched Gilas defeat Iran 68-56, and the Philippines returned next with an overtime 82-81 win over Jordan.
