Reform UK leader resigns, vows to run for seat again
Reform UK leader resigns, vowing to run for seat again amid financial controversy involving Nigel Farage. Farage, leader of the right-wing Reform UK party, resigned from parliament and said he will stand again in a by-election for Clacton-on-Sea, after forcing a vacancy. He made the announcement in a public statement streamed on Reform UK’s YouTube without journalists present. The resignation comes as scrutiny grows over an undeclared multi-million-pound donation: Farage accepted a £5 million gift from a billionaire crypto investor that he did not disclose. Parliament’s standards watchdog is investigating the donation, and he has also been referred to a regulator over separate reports. If a serious breach of disclosure rules is found, Farage could be suspended from the House of Commons, where a suspension of 10 days or more could trigger a recall petition and potentially another by-election.
