Report: Kings to meet with All-Star center Jalen Duren when free agency opens
Sacramento Kings are reportedly preparing to meet with All-Star center Jalen Duren when NBA free agency opens Tuesday at 3 pm PT, aiming for a sign-and-trade involving the Detroit Pistons, according to insider Chris Haynes. The 22-year-old is evaluating alternatives amid a reported contract gap with Detroit. Duren, a first-time All-Star for the 2025-26 season, averaged 19.5 points, 10.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 65% from the field and earning All-NBA Third Team honors. The Athletic’s Sam Amick suggests Sacramento could send Domantas Sabonis, a 30-year-old with two years and $93 million remaining, to Detroit in return. With Zach LaVine’s $49 million deal on the books for 2026-27, Sacramento is operating as a luxury tax team, but has begun reducing payroll. The Kings will also be active starting July 4 at Golden 1 Center during the California Classic.
