Rueben Bain Jr. already has tremendous value according to ESPN
Rueben Bain Jr.’s early evaluation underscores how quickly top prospects can translate college production into NFL trade value. Even before playing an NFL snap, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ first-round pick is ranked in ESPN’s Bill Barnwell tier for most valuable first-round selections. Among Buccaneers players, only offensive tackle Tristan Wirfs and wide receiver Emeka Egbuka are valued higher, each projected to require at least a first-round pick plus additional compensation. Bain dropped further than some expected because of concerns about his arm length and nontraditional build as an edge rusher. Tampa Bay’s plan, however, centers on production and versatility, including his Miami output of 20 sacks and 33.5 tackles for loss over three seasons. Barnwell suggests another team could offer a first-round pick for him before training camp, and the fit may involve moving him across the defensive front to create matchup advantages. The No. 15 overall selection also benefits from being young and under team control.
