Secret Service is shielding Trump's son from BBC subpoena: filing
Secret Service is shielding Trump’s son from a BBC subpoena, according to a court filing that describes steps blocking delivery of documents tied to Jan. 6 communications. The British Broadcasting Corporation told the court that the U.S. Department of Justice raised objections while a different federal agency, the Secret Service, has already prevented the subpoena from being served on Donald Trump Jr. The dispute sits alongside President Donald Trump’s December lawsuit against the BBC seeking $10 billion over a Panorama documentary that allegedly spliced parts of Trump’s Jan. 6, 2021 Ellipse speech to portray him as urging supporters to “fight like hell” and storm the Capitol. The BBC says it issued 47 subpoenas to Trump’s inner circle, including Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump, Jared Kushner, Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, and Michael Flynn. The DOJ had attempted to block the requests through a “Statement of Interest.”
