Should play Penn State or Pitt every year": Keeler eyes regional future for Temple

Temple’s K.C. Keeler says the Owls should lock in a regional centerpiece for the schedule, starting with the renewed Penn State rivalry. Temple is fresh off its winningest season since 2019 after a 5-7 debut year, and it kept nine starters without losing anyone to the transfer portal. The program will face Penn State for the first time since 2016, and for the first time since 2015 it will host the Nittany Lions at Lincoln Financial Field. The matchup resumes a long in-state history: Penn State leads 40-4-1, but Temple’s last home win versus Penn State was a 27-10 statement. Keeler also wants more games against nearby rivals like Pitt, Maryland, Syracuse, Rutgers, and others, though he cautions conference and media-rights shifts could push college football toward two power conferences and competing networks.
