Sidelined Higgins hoping Rossies end semi-final rut
Sidelined Higgins hoping Rossies end semi-final rut as Jenny Higgins says Roscommon are once again on the brink of reaching a TG4 All-Ireland intermediate football final. Higgins, who saw Roscommon reach at least four All-Ireland IFC semi-finals from 2018 to 2022, noted that each ended in defeat for the Rossies, while later seasons involved relegation play-offs. After an opening Group 1 loss to Cavan, the team bounced back by beating Down in the group and defeating Leitrim in the quarter-final at Heartland Credit Union Páirc Séan Mac Diarmada in Carrick-on-Shannon about two weeks earlier. The semi-final is against Leinster champions Westmeath at Kingspan Breffni tomorrow, and Higgins expects the contest’s local intensity. She also detailed her injury record, opting out in 2023 for AFLW with Sydney Swans before suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury, later returning in late 2024 and enduring a second ACL injury.
