Six Injured at Unregistered Water Park near Aheloy
Six people were injured on Tuesday after an inflatable banana boat incident at an unregistered water park near Aheloy, according to Bulgaria’s Transport and Communications Ministry. Three victims were admitted to hospitals in Burgas and Sunny Beach, while the others were released to recover at home after sustaining injuries. Earlier, the Executive Agency Maritime Administration said the injured group included three Israeli nationals, noting one had been hospitalized with a serious head injury and the other two had superficial injuries. The authorities found the water park was not certified and lacked documentation required to operate water-based recreational activities, meaning the facility was operating in violation of safety regulations. Because the site was not registered, the maritime agency cannot impose penalties on the facility as an entity. The driver of the inflatable will face sanctions, prosecutors will be informed, and the tourism ministry will be notified.
