CD Tenerife announced the death of 30-year-old striker Jesús de Miguel Alameda on Tuesday after injuries suffered in a late match incident against FC Andorra. The collision involved De Miguel and Andorra goalkeeper Jesus Owono as he raced out to clear the ball; the game was level 2-2 at the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium. Spanish police said an investigation has been opened under judicial supervision. Owono was sent off and the match was abandoned. Spanish media reported that De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest, was resuscitated, and was later moved to intensive care, with Tenerife saying his condition worsened neurologically before his death.
