STARTRADER Breaks Ground on Davao Basketball Court Revamp in the Philippines, Benefiting Around 20,000 People
STARTRADER breaks ground on a Davao basketball court revamp, extending STARCARES’ investment in accessible youth sports infrastructure in the Philippines. The project launched with a groundbreaking ceremony at the Communal Elementary School in Buhangin, Davao City, as STARTRADER announced its redevelopment plans. Upon completion, the upgraded court will benefit around 20,000 people, including about 2,000 learners, 72 school staff, 1,600 parents, and approximately 16,000 residents of Barangay Communal. It is intended to serve both the school and the wider community with a functional, well-maintained recreation space. The initiative builds on prior court revitalizations in Vietnam and Thailand and follows STARTRADER’s broader CSR focus through STARCARES. The company’s CEO, Peter Karsten, said the work is “just the beginning,” while the school principal, Nelson Sepe Lubguban Jr., highlighted the need for a safe space. STARCARES next plans a redevelopment project in Lagos, Nigeria.
