Strikes Iran for 3rd consecutive night after Trump reinstates Hormuz blockade

U.S. Central Command says the U.S. military carried out five hours of strikes against multiple military targets in Iran overnight, marking the third consecutive night of attacks with the Strait of Hormuz still central to the confrontation. The action followed President Donald Trump’s reinstatement of a naval blockade and a 20% tax on cargo moving through the strait, as the U.S. also frames itself as “guardian” of the waterway. CENTCOM listed targets across Iran including Bushehr, Chah Bahar, Jask, Konarak, Abu Musa, and Bandar Abbas, focusing on coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and maritime capabilities. CENTCOM said the strikes would continue to impose “a heavy cost” and degrade Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping and civilians. Separately, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed missile attacks on two UAE oil tankers, killing one and wounding eight; the UAE defense ministry attributed the attack to Iranian cruise missiles while the ships were in Omani waters. Jordan said it intercepted four Iranian missiles aimed at U.S. facilities, while Israel’s Channel 12 reported U.S. officials saying talks, if pursued, would occur “under fire.”
