Takeaways From Washington Huskies Exhibition Loss vs. Boise State Broncos
The Washington Huskies opened the 2026-27 season with an exhibition game against Boise State at Idaho Central Arena in Boise, Idaho, and the result was a clear setback. Washington lost 109-91 to the Broncos, showing early questions in lineup execution and defensive discipline. The Huskies dressed nine newcomers and six returners, using Tayshawn Comer, Steele Venters, LeJuan Watts, Lathan Sommerville and Nikola Dzepina as the starters. Notably, all five starters fouled out. Watts, a Texas Tech transfer, led the scoring from the first unit with 16 points, along with rebounds, assists and a steal, while Comer added 16 points. Offense moved well at 51% shooting and 40.7% from 3-point range, but Washington struggled at the free-throw line, hitting 60.9%. Defensively, Boise State generated 53 free-throw attempts after Washington committed 36 fouls. Several freshmen saw limited action, including Lattimore Ford (one minute) and Tristan Devers (no minutes).
