Nigeria’s Presidency trained more than 100 social media influencers from Northern Nigeria to tackle fake news and improve public communication. The workshop was organized by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Media and Public Enlightenment, led by Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, and took place in Kano on Sunday. Abdulaziz said the training would give participants practical skills to identify and counter misinformation and disinformation online, including misleading videos, AI-generated images and manipulated clips. He added that the initiative would also familiarize influencers with Tinubu administration policies and achievements so they can share verified information. The programme, he said, aims to promote messages that strengthen national unity and encourages more responsible digital engagement. A facilitator, Dr. Musa Abdullahi-Sufi, urged participants to highlight development stories and positive initiatives to offer a more balanced image of Nigeria.
