Tony Romo's replacement at CBS speaks out about new role calling NFL games

Tony Romo is on leave from CBS Sports after his arrest last month for driving under the influence, and CBS is filling his top NFL analyst role with J.J. Watt. Watt, a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year, addressed the change on X Tuesday, saying he’s not happy about Romo’s situation but is excited to work with CBS’s lead broadcast team led by Jim Nantz, Tracy Wolfson and Jim Rikhoff. Watt will be on the No. 2 broadcast team for CBS this season, but his first called game in 2026 is the Green Bay Packers at the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 13.
