Tricky Trindall and historic Hynes inflict Dolphins the ultimate capitulation
Tricky Trindall and historic Hynes inflict Dolphins the ultimate capitulation as Braydon Trindall and Nicho Hynes drove the Sharks to a 66-0 demolition of the Dolphins, positioning them as premiership contenders. The match swung decisively after Trindall, turning 27, helped the Sharks build a 24-point halftime lead at their rivals’ spiritual home, with multiple Dolphins tries denied early by strong defence. Trindall repeatedly kicked to corners to apply pressure, and a Dolphins decision against taking two points on a close-range penalty backfired when Thomas Flegler lost possession attempting to score, allowing Oregon Kaufusi to open the scoring. Trindall’s grubber for KL Iro and a Harbour Bridge-style pass for Ronaldo Mulitalo fueled a rapid try burst, before Hynes took control in the second half. Hynes scored twice, finished with three try assists, three linebreak assists and 11 goals, the most points by a Sharks player. The Dolphins were missing halfback Isaiay Katoa, who will be sidelined at least two weeks after fracturing an arm against the Warriors in round 17.
