Troops killed as the Iran conflict intensifies | Evening News Bulletin 19 July 2026
The United States says two service members were killed in Jordan and another is missing after an Iranian attack, as the Iran-U.S. conflict intensifies for a seventh straight night of U.S. strikes. Washington also announced fresh airstrikes in response amid concerns that an interim ceasefire deal signed a month earlier has effectively collapsed. Iran’s Health Ministry said 50 people were killed and more than 500 injured in U.S. strikes over the past three weeks. Iran’s Supreme Leader adviser Mohsen Rezaei warned against further escalation or any attempt to seize Iranian territory, threatening a shift from Iran’s defensive posture. Elsewhere, Ukraine and Russia reported more deaths from long-range attacks, including Ukrainian drone strikes near Moscow and Russian missile strikes on Odesa. The bulletin also covered investigations into the 2024 deaths of six foreign tourists in Vang Vieng and Australia’s debate over a landmark Islamophobia report.
