Trump expresses concern about NFL game and civil unrest in Paris

U.S. President Donald Trump said Friday that the NFL “could have probably postponed” the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Sunday trip to Paris to face the New Orleans Saints because of street protests. The game, the first regular-season NFL contest in France, is scheduled for Stade de France in Saint-Denis, while France prepares for further demonstrations Saturday tied to the high cost of living. The U.S. State Department issued a security alert late Thursday, warning Americans to exercise caution given potential changes to protest routes. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said preparations were coordinated with U.S. and French authorities. Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers said the NFL is alert and believes the game can be safe.
