Two 76ers Concerns Arose During Season-Opening Win Over Knicks

The Philadelphia 76ers opened the 2026-27 NBA season with a 106-100 win over the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden, but two issues stood out after the game. First was bench depth and production: only nine players appeared for Philly, with the reserves producing limited minutes—Jabari Walker played under three minutes and Adem Bona around 10. The Knicks outscored the Sixers’ bench 32-23. Second, Philadelphia struggled from three-point range, hitting just 11-of-40 attempts (28%). Star Tyrese Maxey was 2-of-9 from deep, and James and VJ Edgecombe combined for 0-for-6. Contributions came from Tyrese Maxey (28 points, 5 assists) plus Jaylen Brown and LeBron James.
