UW's voice of Huskies Athletics hired by Tampa Buccaneers
UW’s voice of Huskies Athletics is moving to the NFL after Tony Castricone’s departure from the University of Washington. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced that Castricone will take a broadcasting role with the team. Castricone spent nearly a decade as the voice of Husky football and men’s basketball, joining UW in 2018 after replacing longtime UW Football announcer Bob Rondeau, who served for 37 years. He will replace Gene Deckershoff, who is retiring after 36 seasons. The team confirmed Deckershoff’s retirement in December. Castricone will work alongside analyst and former Bucs tight end Dave Moore. The Buccaneers also employ former UW players, including quarterback Jake Browning, tight end Devin Culp, wide receiver Jalen McMillan, tight end Cade Otton and defensive tackle Vita Vea.
