Vanderbilt Lands 2027 DL Commitment out of Nigeria

Vanderbilt football secured a commitment from defensive lineman Augustine Irek, class of 2027, who announced his decision this week. The Commodores offered him just one week before he committed. Irek previously held offers from Auburn, Duke, Texas Tech, UCLA, West Virginia, Boise State and Jacksonville State. Listed at 6-foot-7, he is from Cross River State in Nigeria and was recruited to the NFL Academy via the NFL Africa Camp to develop his skills. The NFL Academy launched in 2019 in London under Alistair Kirkwood and Troy Vincent, later expanding to Australia for the Asia-Pacific region, and has helped more than 40 students earn college football scholarships in the U.S.
