Victoria Monét's 'Frequency of Love' aims to strike the optimal sonic vibration
Victoria Monét says she won’t take it personally if people call her upcoming album a comeback, despite only a three-year break. In an interview with The Associated Press, the 37-year-old, a three-time Grammy winner, said her process required letting life “take its course” and that music timelines don’t need to be rushed. Frequency of Love arrives Friday as a 22-track studio project following her Grammy-winning Jaguar II (made in 2023). The album draws on singles including the house-leaning “Reach Out,” the yacht-R&B inspired “Juicy” and “Let Me,” a slow jam that already reached No. 1 on Billboard’s adult R&B airplay chart. Collaborators include Bruno Mars and SZA, plus Bryson Tiller, Leon Thomas and Chlöe Bailey. Monét also references classic ’90s R&B with interpolations, including Brandy’s “Almost Doesn’t Count.”
