Video shows drink-driving teen during police chase in Hampshire
A Hampshire court sentenced 18-year-old Jimmy James, from Whitchurch, after video showed him driving dangerously while under the influence of alcohol during a police chase. He was spared jail, receiving a 14-month sentence suspended for two years at Winchester Crown Court on Friday. James previously pleaded guilty to driving dangerously, failing to stop after an accident, and driving without insurance and above the legal alcohol limit. The offenses occurred on 13 June on the A31, the A303 and roads between Andover and Whitchurch. Footage reportedly shows speeds in excess of 100mph. The CPS confirmed he must pay a £500 fine and a £187 victim surcharge, complete 200 hours of unpaid work, and 25 hours of a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement, plus a three-year driving ban.
