Washington Huskies Legend Named to Women's World Cup Roster

Washington Huskies women’s basketball is gearing up for what it hopes is its strongest season in a decade after boosting the roster through the transfer portal. The Huskies added four-star guard Amayah Garcia and also retrained several returnees: All-Big Ten guard Sayvia Sellers, conference All-Freshman forward Brynn McGaughy, and Big Ten honorable mention guard Avery Howell. Washington is coming off a Round of 32 exit, losing 72-69 in overtime to TCU Horned Frogs. The program’s last NCAA tournament win came in 2017, when Kelsey Plum helped lead it to its only Final Four appearance. Plum, traded from the Los Angeles Sparks to the Phoenix Mercury, was named to Team USA’s FIBA Women’s World Cup roster starting in September.
