What's next for Penn State football after losing top PA receiver?
Penn State’s plans for its 2027 recruiting class took a hit after top in-state receiving target Khalil Taylor switched his commitment to Nebraska. Taylor, a wide receiver prospect from the Pittsburgh area, announced his verbal pledge on Monday, July 6, choosing the Cornhuskers over Colorado and Penn State. The 4-star recruit had previously committed to Penn State, but decommitted after the firing of former coach James Franklin. Penn State’s staff, led by head coach Matt Campbell, had been trying to persuade Taylor to re-commit, leaving them with only their second wideout in the 2027 class. Taylor is listed at 5-foot-11 and 190 pounds and was the highest-rated uncommitted prospect remaining in Pennsylvania’s 2027 group based on the 247Sports Composite. He totaled 33 receptions for 571 yards and 12 touchdowns at Pine-Richland High, and Penn State’s receiver recruiting rank slipped to No. 14, behind Ole Miss and ahead of Virginia Tech.
