What six teams can offer LeBron James: The money, on-court fit and intangibles
LeBron James’ availability in free agency again since 2018 is prompting speculation about which teams could best match his salary needs, on-court fit and off-court value. The 41-year-old became an unrestricted free agent after telling the Los Angeles Lakers last month he plans to play his 24th NBA season elsewhere, ending an eight-year run. Coming off 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds on 51.5% shooting, James is seeking “meaningful, competitive basketball.” ESPN reports agent Rich Paul has spoken with 27 teams, including the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat. Insiders Brian Windhorst and Bobby Marks outline potential routes: a possible Cavaliers homecoming, conditional on Cleveland’s remaining financial flexibility, including the size of its veterans minimum and midlevel exceptions and potential moves involving Max Strus or Dennis Schroder.
