WNBA boss booed amid Caitlin Clark uproar... after Tom Brady photo-op
The WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert faced boos in Brooklyn during the Commissioner's Cup final amid a wider Caitlin Clark controversy, following a courtside photo-op with NFL icon Tom Brady. Engelbert attended Tuesday’s game between the New York Liberty and the Las Vegas Aces, a team Brady partially owns, then drew a hostile reaction when the Liberty won at Barclays Center. Multiple fans reported the boos were so loud they could not hear Engelbert during the trophy presentation. Engelbert did not acknowledge the jeers and instead presented Breanna Stewart with her MVP award. The unrest follows Phoenix forward Alyssa Thomas’s claims that she has received racist fan abuse and threats after a hard foul on Clark. Thomas said her family has been threatened and criticized the league for failing to respond, while Clark left the game after aggravating a back injury and Thomas was later suspended.
