The WNBA is moving to address officiating concerns by launching a centralized replay center at the start of the 2027 season, league commissioner Cathy Engelbert announced on Saturday ahead of the All-Star Game. Engelbert said the investment, described as “tens of millions of dollars,” is intended to improve consistency, efficiency, and transparency in officiating while raising game quality. The league will base the replay operation in the same Secaucus, New Jersey facility used by the NBA, which has run a central replay center since 2014. The NBA center uses 94 HD monitors and provides operators with access to many camera angles that on-site officials may not have. Engelbert said the WNBA is still finalizing operational details and that some arenas may require technology upgrades during the offseason, particularly for teams that play only a few games outside their home venues. Recent playoff and offseason criticism has kept officiating under scrutiny, including comments from Cheryl Reeve and Napheesa Collier after a controversial no-call involving Collier in the 2025 playoffs.
