Aerospace's AI Defense Opportunity With Shield AI - GE Aerospace (NYSE:GE)
GE Aerospace is positioning its F110 engine technology alongside Shield AI’s autonomous X-BAT aircraft ambitions, aiming to create a defense opportunity as militaries look to deploy AI-powered airpower beyond traditional runways. On Oct. 12, GE Aerospace, Shield AI and Poland’s WZL-2 signed a memorandum of understanding to explore maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities in Poland for the F110 that powers Shield AI’s X-BAT. The pact also covers the Axisymmetric Vectoring Exhaust Nozzle for thrust vectoring, enabling vertical takeoff and landing. X-BAT is designed to operate from roads, ships and smaller sites, potentially helping on NATO’s eastern flank. GE said it is supplying propulsion and engine support expertise, not the AI pilot.
