Apple MacBook Pro Hands-On: First OLED Screen, Touch And A Familiar Logo
Apple’s new MacBook Pro adds an OLED display for the first time and introduces touch capabilities on the trackpad and screen, following a week of hands-on testing. The display, branded “PROLED XDR,” uses tandem OLED with two light-emitting layers aimed at improving brightness and outdoor visibility, with Apple citing a 10,000,000:1 contrast figure. Apple says it keeps brightness and color fidelity better in very bright light than some rival OLED laptops. Touch returns after years since it was available on PCs; Apple positions it as an add-on, enabling actions like pinch-to-zoom. The laptop also brings back the backlit Apple logo, now matching the look of other Macs when off. Configurations include M5 Pro and M5 Max, launched in spring 2026, for this model.
