Apple says it is releasing updates early in response to AI cybersecurity concerns
Apple said it is moving up software security updates that would normally be delivered with a new iOS release, making them available earlier in response to AI-driven cybersecurity risks. The company told Reuters that it is shortening the time between vulnerabilities being made public and the fixes reaching customers, given AI’s ability to accelerate the creation of malicious hacking tools. The change departs from Apple’s typical practice of bundling security fixes into broader iOS transitions, such as from iOS 26.5 to 26.6. Apple said there is no evidence that the newly patched flaws have been exploited. Unless researchers find an attack targeting a previously unknown bug, Apple usually releases security updates alongside the next iOS version. For now, the latest security patches are being released for everyone ahead of the wider 26.6 rollout.
