ASIA TODAY Massive Russian attack on Kyiv: at least 13 dead and over 80 injured
A massive Russian nighttime attack on Kyiv left at least 13 people dead and more than 80 injured, with missile and drone strikes hitting residential areas across the Ukrainian capital. Several neighbourhoods were evacuated and explosions were reported in buildings throughout Kyiv, following a warning by President Volodymyr Zelensky that Moscow was preparing a “massive” raid. Kyiv’s military administration head, Tymur Tkachenk, said among the casualties there was also a “significant number” of children. In Syria, interim Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa appointed the final 70 members of the new Parliament, including 15 women, ahead of the first session next week. Separately, Myanmar’s government aims to complete the controversial Myitsone mega-project, a 6-gigawatt dam, in about eight years. The Myitsone scheme is expected to export over 90% of its generated energy to a neighbouring giant.
