Bali police are investigating a case in which a Russian national, identified only by the initials AI, was reportedly kidnapped and tortured for nearly 30 hours to obtain access to his cryptocurrency account. According to local police, the victim was stopped near Pecatu in South Kuta on July 2 at about 9:35 p.m. Two masked men in a black Nissan Serena intercepted him, handcuffed him, covered his head, and drove him to a two-story building where he was punched and kicked for roughly 30 hours until he provided his account password. The attackers also seized a Xiaomi phone and used villa keys to retrieve a second device linked to his wallet. AI was released on July 4 outside Udayana University Hospital. Police said they are reviewing CCTV and phone data, and no arrests were announced.
