Billboards in Multiple Countries Hacked to Show Porn
Hackers reportedly displayed pornographic footage on digital LED billboards across multiple countries, including Egypt, Malaysia and Brazil, with additional claims involving Iraq and China. In Egypt, the most prominent confirmed incident occurred on a large billboard overlooking the 26th of July Axis in Giza, one of Cairo’s busiest highways. Drivers stopped to film as explicit content appeared alongside text referencing a Telegram handle. Egypt’s Interior Ministry said the screen belonged to Al Arabia United, which had contracted with an unnamed international company; it said legal steps began and the broadcaster suspended feeds. Al Arabia United said it detected unauthorized access to one screen, shut it down, and was investigating. Malaysia’s Kluang Municipal Council shut down hacked screens, and in Brazil an avenue near BR-343 briefly showed porn, according to local media. A Telegram group claimed responsibility and said it exploited a software vulnerability.
