Broncos' 2025 free-agent signing selected as 'most overpaid' player
Broncos’ 2025 free-agent signing selected as “most overpaid” spotlights Evan Engram’s struggles as Denver prepares for year two of his contract. After signing Engram to a two-year, $23 million deal last offseason, the tight end finished his first year with 50 receptions for 461 yards and one touchdown, with multiple games in which he largely disappeared. Ahead of the 2025 season, Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton named Engram the NFL’s most overpaid tight end based on his production drop from a 2023 Pro Bowl season (114 catches, 963 yards, four TDs) to fewer than 51 catches and 462 receiving yards with one TD across 2024 and 2025. Denver also has a crowded receiver group, which could limit targets in Sean Payton’s offense. The draft added Justin Joly and Dallen Bentley, but the situation remains uncertain.
