Chappell Roan Graphic Novel Set for November Release
Media Lab Books plans to publish a graphic biography about singer Chappell Roan on Nov. 3. Created by Rachel Randall and Bridie Cox, who publishes under the name Bridie Alpaca, the book is titled “Chappell Roan: Midwest Princess: The Illustrated Story of a Musical Femininomenon.” The publication traces Roan’s childhood in Willard, Missouri, describing her upbringing as queer in a small town before signing her first record deal at 17 with Atlantic Records. She was dropped after shelving her debut album, later signing with Island Records in 2023 and releasing “The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.” Her profile rose with a supporting slot on Olivia Rodrigo’s “Guts World Tour” and festival appearances at Coachella and Governors Ball. The book costs $17.99 and can be preordered at Barnes & Noble and Amazon. Cox donated $500 AUD (about $344 USD) from her advance to Transcend Australia and Transgender Victoria.
