Alibaba unveiled new AI chip technologies at its flagship conference in Hangzhou, pitching the Zhenwu V900 as “the most powerful AI chip in China today.” CEO Eddie Wu said the chip delivers three times the performance of Alibaba’s prior Zhenwu M890 generation. The company said its Zhenwu chips support “training” and “inference” in its data centers for Alibaba and cloud clients, and it plans to train a new model at 5 to 10 trillion parameters. Its Qwen3.8-Max model has 2.4 trillion parameters. Alibaba also expects over 20 gigawatts of AI computing by 2032, as U.S.-China AI rivalry intensifies ahead of Xi Jinping’s Washington visit.
