Chinese AI model rivals ChatGPT, jolting Silicon Valley. The launch coincided with Chinese President Xi Jinping’s opening address on Friday at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. The competition is also being fueled by export limits on advanced chips, pushing domestic hardware efforts including Huawei’s Atlas 950 SuperPoD showcased during the conference. Kimi K3 usage was reported as half the price of OpenAI’s GPT-5.6 Sol, citing Bank of America.
