Chips recalled in five states over risk of life-threatening allergic reaction

Saratoga Potato Chips recalled multiple bags of “J. Higgs Loaded Bacon and Cheddar Potato Chips” distributed in Save A Lot stores across five states due to an undeclared soy allergen, the FDA said. The recall affects 7.75-ounce packages identified by UPC 0-51933-31645-4, with only “USED BY” dates DEC 11 26 and DEC 18 26 on the top right corner of the bags. The company warned that consumers with a soy allergy or severe sensitivity face risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions. No illnesses or injuries have been reported so far. The recall was triggered September 15 and remains ongoing, and refunds are available.
