Clothing brand pulls 6,000 sweaters from shelves due to risk of death from fire
Clothing brand pulls 6,000 sweaters from shelves due to risk of death from fire after federal safety officials found the garments fail U.S. flammability standards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) said a recall covers approximately 6,000 women’s sweaters from the Madewell Double V-Neck Pullover and V-Neck Cardigan styles in light blue and cream. The agency warned the recalled textiles could violate mandatory flammability requirements, creating a risk of “serious burn injuries or death.” The sweaters were sold at Madewell and T.J. Maxx stores, as well as online, from December 2024 through October 2025. No injuries have been reported, though the company documented one incident of a sweater catching fire. Madewell is offering full refunds, requiring customers to stop wearing affected items and follow the company’s refund process.
