Costco gets approval to build a new store in Newington, eyes 2027 opening
xCruzo Brief
Costco Wholesale received approvals to build a new store and gas station in Newington, where the Mall at Fox Run previously stood. The Newington Board of Selectmen and Planning Board moved the Seacoast Landing project forward on Oct. 26 after months of meetings and negotiations. The Planning Board granted conditional approval for a 167,000-square-foot membership store and gas station on the former mall site, which is being demolished, with 17 conditions aimed at reducing traffic impacts on Gosling Road and Woodbury Avenue. Construction and delivery trucks must use entrances and exits 3 and 4 on the Spaulding Turnpike. Company plans call for a land closing in early 2027, construction starting in April, and a November opening.
