Cyber attack hits UK meat suppliers as fridges reach 100C amid urgent warning
xCruzo Brief
Several UK meat suppliers reported refrigeration systems heating up after cyberattacks overnight, with the Association of Independent Meat Suppliers (Aims) saying some of its roughly 300 members became “collateral” to a breach affecting software used by supermarkets and food suppliers across Europe. Some members saw fridges begin defrosting on Monday evening, while another reported temperatures rising to about 100C. Aims said the units were empty at the time because of typical abattoir operating patterns, so no meat was lost. The National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) said it is working with affected companies and that the national impact is “minimal”. No major supermarket chain was reportedly directly affected.
