Cyberattack on Tata iPhone plant exposes Apple and Tesla data
A cyberattack on a Tata-operated iPhone manufacturing plant in India has allegedly exposed data linked to Apple and Tesla, raising new concerns about security across the global technology supply chain. Reports say more than 630GB of confidential information was stolen and that at least 33 files and folders are associated with Tata’s Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu, though it remains unclear if the targeted plant was specifically the Hosur site. Tata Electronics said it detected a cybersecurity incident affecting several internal systems several weeks ago and that emergency response procedures were activated, with manufacturing and business operations continuing without disruption. Hacker group World Leaks claims it published more than 200,000 files, and while the full authenticity has not been independently verified, some files reportedly include names such as “com.apple.factorydata” alongside engineering documents. The dataset also reportedly contains a 52-page technical document on quality inspection standards for iPhone circuit boards, and could include employee passport copies and internal system logs. World Leaks has previously carried out data extortion campaigns, including an attack on Nike in January 2026, and files attributed to the breach first appeared on June 10, 2026.
