Delta probes unauthorised WiFi on flight after hacker event

Delta Air Lines is investigating reports of an unauthorised WiFi network on a flight from Las Vegas to Atlanta on Monday, Aug. 10, according to the airline. The probe follows a weekend cybersecurity event in Las Vegas, with Delta working with federal law enforcement and aviation regulators after the network was activated “for a short time,” a spokesperson said. The crew deactivated the WiFi on the Boeing 757 aircraft for about 30 minutes, and Delta said there was no hack of any Delta system, no emergency declared, and no aircraft safety-critical systems affected. The FBI and the FAA are also looking into the incident, while Def Con said it wasn’t contacted but would investigate.
