The 35-year-old, a three-time NFL defensive player of the year, announced the decision on Instagram. Rams coach Sean McVay said the team had kept no hard timeline, but noted he was in contact with Donald almost daily. Donald trained with the Rams defensive line coach Giff Smith and trainers during camp at Loyola Marymount and recently worked out at the team facility, including footage at UCLA. The move follows the June trade for defensive end Myles Garrett, potentially pairing two elite pass rushers. Donald has 111 career sacks and has missed only six games in his career, all from an ankle injury in the Rams’ 2022 post-season slump.
